ACDC Romania participated between October 8−12, 2009 to World public forum “Dialogue of civilizations” Seventh annual session, Rhodes, Greece, in the youth panel.
The discussions were centered on the present global situation that demands to spell out conceptually sound foundation and requires special efforts in order to preserve the “structural integrity” of the global community. The themes of the Forum discussions included the following vital aspects of human life: socio-economic conditions as manifestation of the leading values in financial and economic activities; in the sphere of culture - establishment and reconstituting of civilization’s identity in modern complex reality; in the sphere of religion – assisting the widening of interconfessional dialogue with regard to the growth of religious consciousness.
Participating in the Forum’s events and activities of various years were: His Majesty Abdullah II, King of Jordan, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the former President of Iran Mohammad Khatami, the Director-General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura, Indian National Congress Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Dr. Badr al-Din Hassoun, Grand Mufti of Syria, ex-Federal Chancellor of Austria Alfred Gusenbauer, ex-Premier of the Republic of France Dominique de Villepin. The Forum is supported by a network of NGOs, the UN, UNESCO, the Council of Europe, OPEC, OIC, ISESCO, ALECSO, research institutes and hundreds of individual specialists.
